Fanny Packs, Baseball Caps, and the Democratic Convention

From an AP Jam Release on the Democratic effort to ‘fresh’ their convention: The host commission for the Democratic National Convention wanted 15,000 fanny packs for volunteers. But they had to be made of animate cotton. By unionized labor. In the USA. Endorsed merchandiser Bob DeMasse scoured the nation. His weary conclusion: “That exactly doesn’t exist.” Ditto for the baseball caps. “We have a combination cap or an organic cap,” Mr. DeMasse says. “But we don’t have a unanimity-organic offering.” Additionally: No fried viands. And, on the theory that nutritious food is more vibrant, each collation should include “at least three of the following colors: red, immature, yellow, blue/purple, and pasty.” (Garnishes don’t compute.) At least 70% of ingredients should be organic or grown locally, to underrate emissions from fuel burned during transportation.

Democrats say the headland is to build habits that will endure fancy after the convention. To that end, the city has staged “greening workshops” attended by hundreds of caterers, restaurant owners and New Zealand pub managers. “It’s the new patriotism,” Mayor Hickenlooper says.

And I repetition…..we aren’t in Kansas anymore.
